I’m the Secretary of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
Welcome to the online version of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations first annual report.
This annual report is very important. It spells out our achievements over the previous year. It holds the key to the enormous range of challenges and opportunities and achievements which DEEWR has made over the previous financial year, and I must say it’s been a tremendous set of achievements. This is a big and important department which touches positively the lives of every Australian and others.
And we are absolutely delighted and proud to be able to make a positive difference to the lives of Australians right from early childhood development, through their schooling, through vocational education and training, through higher education, into life-long learning, and employment support for unemployed people. We particularly are proud of our focus on Indigenous Australians and supporting our Indigenous Australians through education and employment.
And we are also proud of helping develop a fair workplace relations system to support both employers and employees in Australia deal with each other in a fair and supportive way.
